Why we collect your information
General - One of our goals at WhiteCapDirect is to provide our customers with a time saving and easy to use interface to access our extensive line of products. Some of the information we collect is used strictly to help customize your visits to WhiteCapDirect. Customizing your experience allows us to increase the efficiency and functionality of our site by tailoring it to your specific needs.
In order to properly access WhiteCapDirect, we require users to provide a valid email address and to create a unique password. This enables users to access the large selection of goods we have to offer. In order to purchase an item from our site we do require a proper shipping address. If the shipping address is different then billing address we do provide a field for the additional information. To properly complete any transaction we do require a valid credit card number. WhiteCapDirect handles all credit card transactions and does not use a third party to do so.
WhiteCapDirect does provide an additional area called "Profile," where member's can access the information they have initially provided to us and add additional information such as name, mailing address, phone and fax number. Of course none of this information is required and the fields will automatically be filled in once you purchase an item from our site.
If you have created an account at WhiteCapDirect, information entered in relation to past jobs or your company information is collected to allow us to provide you with the convenience of having that information available and at hand on future visits.
The more we know about you, the better equipped we are to provide you with the service, selection and content that you expect from WhiteCap.
Choice/Opt-out - Our users are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for the information. For example, our order form has an 'opt-out' mechanism so users who buy a product from us, but don't want any marketing material, can keep their email address off of our lists.
Correction/Updating Personal Information - If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code), or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal data provided to us. This can usually be done at the member information page or by emailing our Customer Support at customerservice@whitecap.net.
Newsletter - If a user wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we do require contact information of your name and email address.
Surveys & Contests - From time-to-time our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.
